Mental Break Down

Yup, I had one.

On Sunday afternoon driving home from my parents.

I went out to the store earlier that day and was trying on jeans.  The size I had to try on was a 16 and in dress pants, that size wouldn't work in a few styles, and I lost it.  That is the biggest size pants I have ever worn in my entire life. And I will NOT got larger, and I will not buy more pants.

So I decided right then, I WAS GOING TO DO SOMETHING!  Another blogger has been truly inspirational to me in her weight loss journey, which has helped and motivate me to do this too.

I decided that I was going to take my dogs for a longer walk (not just so they can pee) every morning and go to the gym 3 nights a week.  I bought a nice water bottle, which I would like to drink at least 3 bottles of everyday.  And no soda. I have go over week with that one. I still have a coffee and tea, or a glass of ice tea a day... not tryin to kill myself here.

And today I started and I did it.  Queen of HATING mornings, woke up at 5:45 and walked the boys a mile before I showered.  I walked a mile before the sun came up :)  Day 1 accomplished!

I got this! Send positive vibes.

Thank You No More?

I often feel that the idea of Thanking people for gestures of kindness has completely gone out the window. Please do not get me wrong, I never do anything for anyone expecting anything in return; but I was brought up that you thank people for gifts and general gestures of kindness. Not that I need to be thanked for every little card I send, but it is nice to know that someone received the gift or item- especially if you sent it in the mail.

Thank you notes, do people even send them still? I love snail mail, and always will. I will also encourage my future children that it is the right thing to do.

I actually have a sign hanging in my cubicle that says this:

Just a small reminder that people do not have to help you and when they do it should be recognized.

Finally Friday

It is Finally Friday! Woo Hoo! Sometimes it seems that this day will never come!  Today I had a 2 hour delay into work due to sleep, and ice.  It was nice to take my time in the morning and snuggle with Freddie.

Neal has been feeling under the weather all week, and we have been bums.  I did keep my resolution and cook dinner every night this week, expect last night.  We were supposed to have a Game Night with friends, but it didn't end up happening.  Pizza was already planned for Thursday, and we stuck to it.

Monday:
I love this man!
  • Neal took about a months worth of clothes to the laundry mat...  I was home alone!
  • Did some picking up around the house, and started my new Rod Stewart Biography!
  • I straighted my hair last night. It still looked pretty good and I kept it most of the week. I have super thick hair and it kind of took forever, but I did get a TON of compliments on it.

My Hair if getting long! EEK!

 Tuesday:
  • I made homemade chicken strips (coated with ritz crackers) with my special mac and cheese and green beans! It was delicious.
  • I started to fold that months worth of laundry... and it is still in process
  • Wednesday:
  • Did grocery shopping at Super Wal Mart. Stuck to my list, didn't go over budget and we FINALLY have food in the house.
  • I made a bag dinner of Asian Chicken Stir Fry and made Crab Watons

Thursday:
  • Ordered Pizza for our favorite place! Mr. Pizza, where an extra large pick up pizza is only $7.99
  • I ran the vacuum
  • Crocheted and Watched TV

One of my good friends is expecting twins, and I am making the babies blankets

Friday:
  • Tonight on my way home I am stopping at Target!!! Woo Hoo! I am getting a hostess gift for a brunch tomorrow and a gift for my friends little girl who will be at brunch.
  • Tonight's dinner will be easy for a cold night- soup and grilled cheese!
  • I need to finish laundry folding and put it away, and catch up with my DVR.

Resolution Into Action

So last night I was able to put a New Year’s Resolution into action.  A neighbor (another person who lives in my apartment complex) was at the laundry card dispenser, which is across the street from my house. The guy asked me how it worked and if it took dollars.  The smallest dollar domination it takes is $5, which is really annoying.  Well he only had ones, and I never have cash.  He said he just needed to put his clothes in the dryer, which is $1.68.  I told him he could just use my laundry card.  He seemed blown away with my generosity.

I had no problem at all lending this man, who introduced his name as Gary; my laundry card… but I was more nervous being outside around 8:30pm in the dark talking to a stranger.  Luckily I had the dogs with me, as I had just taken them in the car for an errand.  When I came back out with my card, I brought Freddie with me, just in case something went ary.  Then I asked him to just put the card under my windshield wiper.  Honestly, I felt terrible thinking and feeling that way, but a woman cannot be too careful, especially if she is alone.

I felt great about my first good deed of the New Year, and glad all went well and Gary got his laundry.

My Year

I feel like 2014 is going to be my year! Do not get me wrong, last year was amazing but this year I am taking it by the horns and already starting off on the right foot.
I only made two New Year’s resolutions… no need to get overly ambitious and not follow through on a million things, so here they are:

  1.  Pay it forward or do something nice and unexpected for someone twice a month.
I always wanted to do this and have not gotten around to it.  You know, bring a coworker breakfast, pay for the next person in the drive though, give someone in need a lunch. Small simple things that could make someone’s day!
  1. Live a healthier life style
I obviously want to lose weight, I mean who doesn’t.  But this isn’t just about pounds. I want to live a healthier life style in mind, body and spirit.  Have a more positive outlook on life, and to BE positive.  Treat others how I want to be treated… LAUGH more! Take the stairs, park further away and walk.  Do not take a short cut.  Be less stressed… Cook dinner at home, eat better.  All of these little things will add up and will be the best way to execute my healthier life style.

It will be my goal for 2014 to live up to these resolutions.  I have started off by ironing my clothes for the entire week for work on Sunday.  Again, a small step but this will eliminate my stress throughout the week.  I also defrosted chicken to cook for dinner.  Planning ahead will greatly assist with living a healthier life style.

Labor Day Weekend NYC Style

For Labor Day weekend we went to up state New York to visit one of Neal's good friends, and to go to a Yankees v. Orioles game!

Neal, his friend Liam and myself drove up from Baltimore.  I pretty much slept in the back seat, while that caught up, and talked about whatever it is that men talk about.

I had never met Neal's friend Matt who we were going to stay with, nor had I obviously met his girlfriend.I was feeling anxious leading up to the weekend, but we ended up having a great time.  All of the guys caught up, and having Justine (Matt's girlfriend) to hang out with was really nice.

The Orioles lost, and it was probably 100 degrees outside, but we made the most of it.  Going to another stadium also made me appreciate Baltimore, and Camden Yards so much more.  But we drank, grilled and watched baseball.  What more could you want out of Labor Day Weekend!

The pups stayed with a dog sitter at our apartment.  The sitter, Abby said they were well behaved.  They haven't stayed with anyone except for my parents while we were out of town.  I would definitely have them stay with a sitter again, if we have the extra money.  I think it was better for them to stay in their own home, and it was easier for us, since we didn't have to take them anywhere.

Cheers to the end of summer! Looking forward to a weekend celebrating Allison's wedding at the ocean.

Dating a Baltimore Celebrity

My boyfriend is known to many as a Baltimore Celebrity. I knew this before we started dating, but I wasn't exactly sure what that would all entail.

Neal is an unofficial mascot for his tow favorite sports teams, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Baltimore Ravens.  As an unofficial mascot he goes as his altar ego, Carne Cabeza.

Carne Cabeza means "Meat Head" and is dressed as a Mexican wrestler.  He has two outfits dedicated to each team.  He also does charity work, in addition to just having a good time.

We do not have season tickets to the Orioles, but got to many home games per season.  Last Season a Mexican restaurant, Blue Agave, sponsored Neal as Carne and gave him season tickets to the Ravens.  His brother also has season tickets, which gives him the ability to be able to go to games as well.

What does it mean to go to a a game with Carne Cabeza, or even date him- you might ask... he is the star of the show, so many people either know him or recognize him, and it is a novelty- to see a guy dressed up like this; and hundreds of people want to take a picture with him.  Which honestly, is very annoying at times.  It takes a while to walk anywhere because of the constant stopping.  Another annyoing aspect is the fact that I am often photographed without my knowledge because I am near Carne.  A few weeks ago I was on TV.

At the same time, it is fun because he brings excitement in the stands and is always starting a cheer.  At games people always ask if I am bothered by the amount of girls/women that are "all over" my boyfriend for photos; and the answer is NO.  Neal would never do anything inappropriate, and for two... he comes home with me.  I am not a Ravens fan and have never been to a football game with Carne, but the routine would be the same.
